In my true challenge-all style, I seek to challenge the thoughts expressed by all the news channels, media in general and citizens like myself on what is happening in the country after the sudden rise of AAP, the "Aam Admi Party" ?
Everyone suddenly seems to be asserting that the 'bad' guys (read politicians) are going to be getting a handful from the common man (read public). That it's high-time that corrupt leaders get their due and the 'truthful', 'straight-forward' common man who toils every day gets his due.
While all the guys around me 'self-elevate' with these lofty words(I undergo a bit elevation myself), my ears also hear these words as a shallow excuse, a self denial and self-righteous, 'blame-the-other-guy' approach.
I cant seem to be able to think of any guy around me who has not sought royal favour, taunted and flaunted his connections or just simply taken /passed on a favour. Every guy in the line wants to find someone who can get him in faster. Every patient is impatient to be the first to see the doctor. This basic 'laziness' or
jealousy (to see someone else get it faster) is the root of it all
....and just to rub it in....the politicians did not invent it !
The moment these traits take the form of an internal force strong enough to make us do something 'illegal' (to put it bluntly).., it fathers the famous word called corruption. If a software guys creates an automation to do something faster that's innovation, but this particular version of 'speeding up' is what corruption is..The National Capital Region is a past master of this art or science.We revere Bhagwan Ram but are true practitioners of Ravan Raaj ...though I feel that even Raavan would have never slipped a 100 rupee note to a policeman after jumping a red light !
So, why are we suddenly getting so self-righteous ?
Before you think that I'm suggesting that we dethrone AAP as the problem is not Congress but "we-the people", please understand that I am all for a non-corrupt party (AAP or another..)..
The only reason being that a change from the top can push the change faster..and it is a welcome step..
But the most heartening thing that people want this change and we as a person are winning the battle that is waging "inside their hearts" to be fair and just...the upbringing and the values imbibed into us in our childhood, the goodness of our hearts still reigns supreme inside..
So, what is in question is the sustainability of this movement, not on the outside political arena, but on the inside .. because the moment this movement loses steam on the inside, the outside one will die pretty soon...
The other political parties will do that for us for their own political survival and revival anyway.
What do we need to do then ? In my humble opinion, we need to keep the light of introspection burning, refuse our mind's need for instant gratification, and trudge along the longer, equitable path of getting things done.
A lot of our policies have been made to satisfy the corrupt mind by way of introducing 'checks' and 'balances'into our system so that they can then be bypassed for a price! We need to challenge these so that things can be simplified. We professional minded people have a role there..
Without joining politics (I think we have more than enough AAP and other volunteers already), we can push our agenda by carrying the questioning, anarchist mindset to those that make us follow these processes and procedures.
The MAIN task still remains to keep ourselves as 'clean' as possible and refuse the shorter path to false success. Just like a party manifesto, we need that internal manifesto to run our lives and make a 5-year plan to total cleansing, both internal and external..
What better time than a New Year to carry this 'pious' thought and convert it into a workable agenda !
